miTunes: THE CURRENT, SEPTEMBER '06A monthly series with a simple premise: one CD’s worth of the best songs played on 89.3 The Current throughout the month. Two criteria: (1) the songs have to be obscure, underground and/or mostly forgotten, and (2) they must be pop friendly. I wade through The Current’s deep catalog of music (listening to it nearly all day, every day at work) to discover the hidden pop gems. I like to think I have an ear for quality pop music; this series is my supposed evidence. 1. “Breathe Me” – Sia 2. “I Never” – Rilo Kiley 3. “Three More Days” – Ray LaMontagne 4. “Stop, I’m Already Dead” – Deadboy & The Elephant Men 5. “Cursed Sleep” – Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy 6. “All Kinds” – Dan Wilson 7. “California” – Rufus Wainwright 8. “Is She The One?” – Small Sins 9. “The Charging Sky” – Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins 10. “Goods” – Mates of State 11. “On A Freezing Chicago Street” – Margot & the Nuclear So & Sos 12. “Hello! Let’s Go to a Disco” – Ursula 1000 13. “Put Your Records On” – Corinne Bailey Rae 14. “On the Radio” – The Concretes 15. “Can’t Get You Out of My Mind” – Sonya Kitchell 16. “Glory Glory” – Charlatans UK

Hey, what are you doing back here? You've somehow stumbled into the WoB archives. We really aren't supposed to allow readers in this section, so please promptly return to the new, re-designed, slightly less terrible World of B homepage. Thanks.
