As promised, here is part two of our latest podcast. This episode is devoted entirely to our retelling of the story of our Easter Eve. ‘Twas a magical evening. We shall never forget it.
People, please treat your ears to our latest episode of The Riff (only 32 minutes in length!), featuring one special guest and a whole lot of tangents. This is the first of a two-part episode, so it ends rather abruptly. You’ve been warned. What we discussed:
- New feature: fan mail
- Chocolate-dipped steak
- The moral stand of Taco Bell franchisees
- Continued fawning over “The Wire”
- Excerpts from stuffwhitepeoplelike.com
- Love for “Freaks & Geeks”
- A half-assed review of FX’s “Justified”
- Debate over “An Education”
Have a listen, and be sure to tune in to episode 14, which is set to be posted later this week and most assuredly will knock your socks on their ass. Yeah. It’s that good.
Click play below, or go here to download the mp3. It’s yours to keep. Burn it to a CD. Makes a great Mother’s Day gift.
Can I interest you in a podcast devoted solely to the hometown nine? It’s all Twins talk, all the time in our 11th episode of The Riff. Highlights include:
- Mike’s superb impression of Patrick Reusse
- Kevin Slowey and Rookie of the Year
- Tangent of the week: Judd Nelson
- Delmon Young is poised for a breakout season, take 3
- Target Field review
- Pre- and postgame drinks/food options around Target Field
- A new running feature: Norm’s Preposterous Statements
You can tune in to the show by clicking play below, or go here to download it for all eternity. Enjoy, Twins fans.
Hello, friends, we are back. Did you miss us? We certainly missed you. Please have a listen to our most recent podcast, which covers the gamut of topics, including:
Mike’s recent move
B’s wedding
A reminder of our Most Important Life Lessons: Forced bathroom white noise, don’t make fun of midgets, don’t rent a tuxedo
About a hundred movie reviews (sorry)
The beautiful Gaza Zoo
Being openly hateful toward the openly hateful (aka the Rush Limbaugh saga)
Co-host Mike and I have recently made our glorious return to the electronic airwaves with our fifth episode of The Riff. While we’re (and by “we” I mean me, because Mike refuses to re-listen) happy with the outcome, there were two fairly significant mistakes with this episode: (1) we lost the first half hour because the recording software crashed before we could save, and (2) we mostly forgot to be funny. Oops.
Talking points:
We briefly lament our lost first half of the podcast
Short review: TV on DVD reviews
We share confusion over the point of Cash For Clunkers
The same old steroid discussion
Rambling about health care
A new feature: this week in racism
Over- and underrated summer activities
While keeping in mind the caveats, please do us a solid and click below to have a listen. We would do the same for you.
Hi friends. Episode #3 of The Riff, entitled “The Tight Jeans Scare,” has been posted for your enjoyment. We had a guest appearance from our buddy Tony, who added some insights and was more than willing to laugh at our dumb jokes. Thanks, Tony.
Yep, we’ve got a second podcast up and running. This puppy’s called “A Cheap Wine Glass of an Ego.” Click below for the greatest thing ever (or not). Like in podcast episode 1, we speak as if we’re getting paid by the swear. Take heed, prudes.
Featured in our second-ever podcast:
We discuss a few of our favorite WoB commenters
B and Mike argue about “How I Met Your Mother” and sitcoms in general
Mike explains why he joined Twitter (hint: no real reason)
B defends worthless tweets and Facebook status updates
Mike claims Facebook is popular because of loneliness, narcissism and pity parties
We discuss how Ashton Kutcher lets people know he needs to make two
B argues that social networking isn’t going away because of stall scrawls
B reads through his friend’s status updates and quickly rescinds original defense of status updates
Mike and B come up with two fantastic ideas to improve Facebook (seriously)
We still have plenty o’ room for improvement. Mostly due to the piss-poor sound quality. Fuzzy, tons of annoying ambient noises … it’s bad to an embarrassing degree. We’ll fix that just as soon as we learn how to fix it.
Feedback? Keep it coming. We’re trying to entertain you, and would love to know if and how we’re failing at that goal. Thanks.
This is a very exciting, mildly nerve-racking and kind of embarrassing moment here on the WoB … I’m introducing our very first podcast, created by me and my cohort Mike. The podcast series is tentatively titled “The Riff.”
We’ve named Episode 1 “The B Movement With B and Thunder.” (Taking inspiration from Mr. Show, the show titles will be created using actual phrases used in the episode.) Tune in by clicking the link below. (I think. Still not sure the ideal way to upload these podcasts. Advice is welcomed.)
What was discussed:
I hilariously introduce the podcast by mispronouncing my own name
Mike says something about store names that makes no sense
Podcast ground rules and show expectations (hint: they are low)
Favre talk
Mike tries talking about steroids and gets railroaded by B
Mike’s invention: “The Tiny Razor”
Swine Flu and our made-up definition of “pandemic”
Flu-chebags
Short reviews (Cowboy Slim’s and Doubt)
Mike pleads with listenders to see the Charlie Kaufmann film “Schenectady” New York, which is actually entitled Synecdoche, New York
Overall, I give us a B-, which is sadly a lot better than I thought we’d do. The key improvement we need to make is to tighten up the content a little bit. I thought it’d be fun to go completely extemporaneous, but it’s obvious that is not the ideal plan. We’ll improve our preparation a bit more for the next one. Also, most importantly: we’ll work on correcting the audio. Sorry about that. Please don’t give up on us.
Either way, please weigh in with feedback via email or the comments section. Love letters and hate mail are equally encouraged.
