yet another hilarious mr. show skit

Below is a clip entitled "The Pre-Taped Call In Show," which is one of the most ingenius sketch comedy bits ever conceived. David Cross does this entire scene without the use of cue cards, by the way, which is just insane.

Answer: two people who are much meaner than you thought. Question: Who are norm macdonald and ellen pompeo?

Two clips for your viewing pleasure today. First, in conjunction with last night's repeat of the abominable Grey's Anatomy season finale: Ellen Pompeo's infamous appearance on Punk'd, where it is first revealed she is, in fact, insane.

And second, Norm Macdonald's recent appearance on The Daily Show. Is it too soon to poke fun at Steve Irwin's death? Macdonald apparently doesn't think so. I agree.

THE FAMOUS TITANNICA SKETCH

Below is perhaps the most popular Mr. Show sketch, about a youngster meeting his favorite band Titannica. It also, curiously, inspired the title of Blink 182's "Adam's Song."

a brawl and a sketch

Two videos featured today. The first is a clip (found via Deadspin) of a mighty impressive bench-clearing brawl during a recent minor league game. Tackles, haymakers, helmet tosses ... with the exception of a well-timed drop-kick, this brew-ha-ha had it all. Reminds me of my youth...

Oh, no, wait. Never mind. I was a wuss. Forget I said anything.

Clip #2 is a car dealer sketch apparently from an old pilot by Bob Odenkirk that was rejected by Fox. Starring Odenkirk and Jay Johnson.

these treadmills will make you sweat in places you didn't even know had glands

Why, this is simply the greatest music video I have ever seen. I shall say no more.

this would be funny if it weren't so pathetic

A short montage of our President's most memorable public speaking mishaps, capped off with his embarrassing attempt at repeating the "fool me once, shame on you..." phrase.

lemonade...that cool refreshing drink

The following is a clip from Eddie Murphy's 1982 stand-up special Delirious. You are going to laugh your ass off. Promise.

if she cheat on me, i will crush her

A clip from Da Ali G Show: Borat goes to a dating service.

Larry's my name, insurance is my game

This Mr. Show sketch tells the inspirational story of Larry Kleist, a former felon in the midst of an innovative work release program.

the gay robot

In this clip, Nick Swardson is a gay robot. I'm not sure if it's funny or not. Definitely juvenile, if that's your sort of thing.

two clips for your wednesday viewing pleasure

I apologize for the overkill here, but below is yet another classic sketch from Mr. Show.

...And here's a short bit from Dave Chappelle's genius "For What It's Worth" stand-up act.

take it from me, i love you

Another gut-busting skit from Mr. Show. If you're like me, you'll watch the clip and then spend the rest of your day walking around saying, "it's so big...it's fucking great." Have fun with it.

and...boom goes the dynamite

Reader Eric U. sent in this video link of a college news reporter having a tough time delivering the sports highlights. If he didn't utter his timeless, obviously-practiced personal calling-card phrase of "and...boom goes the dynamite" this would be the saddest video clip ever. But he did, so the segment went from embarrassing to priceless. Enjoy.

talkin' 'bout crazy cool medallions

One of my favorite SNL sketches of all time: The Barry Gibb Talk Show.

Joe Namath, Suzy Kolber, Monday Night Football. Need I say more? See it again...for the first time. (Best part: the reaction from the play-by-play team at the end of the clip. "Joe's just a happy guy." "Oh boy is he happy.")

Then you might enjoy this short film Girl's Guitar Club, which stars Mr. Show alumni Karen Kilgariff and Mary Lynn Rajskub (now Chloe on 24). The two women are downer chicks working retail, trying to make it as musicians. Very funny stuff.

This week's YouTube video comes from Mr. Show, the sketch series that ran for four seasons on HBO. The following clip is from the classic Wycked Sceptre skit. I've seen it about twenty times and it still makes me roar with laughter. Now it's your turn.

Caution: be careful watching this at work. No nudity, but definitely a rated-R segment.

Tuesday marks the release of Gnarls Barkley's hotly anticipated debut album St. Elsewhere. I thought I was one of the first to hear "Crazy," the first single by the group comprised of Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse, until I went to YouTube and saw that the video had been viewed over three million times. Well then.

HMV describes Gnarls' sound by saying, "There's a sense of inability to categorize Gnarls' singular blend of styles. It mines - but isn't limited to - '60s psychedelia, throbbing Miami-bass, Motown music, trip-hop and hot buttered soul; the record Marvin Gaye might have made had he come of age in an era of digital samplers." Well put. The video for "Crazy," which I'm betting will be the single of the summer, is below. Prepare your best chair-dance moves.
